Evaluation of the Engage New England Initiative
Through its evaluation of the Engage New England initiative, SRI is helping the Barr Foundation and the broader education community better understand how to design and implement innovative schools for students who are off track to graduate high school.
SRI’s evaluation of the Barr Foundation’s multiyear initiative will inform the field about effective ways to reengage at-risk youth and prepare them for life after high school. SRI is examining the planning, implementation, and sustainability of innovative high schools designed with and for students. Predicated on positive youth development, these schools are intended to provide students with choice, voice, and flexibility in their learning. The study provides formative feedback to the foundation, the technical assistance provider, and the schools to support continuous improvement. It will ultimately assess whether these innovative strategies are helping students to graduate with the competencies they need to succeed in a changing workforce.
